Born on June 2, 1922 in Decatur, Alabama, Hollis Cobb Associates founder, Hollis L. Cobb, would be 100 years old today. A graduate of Cumberland University School of Law, Hollis served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Tapped by a group of Atlanta doctors to head a special planning association in 1962, Hollis worked to establish a new hospital north of Atlanta which went on to become Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs. Eventually the street circling Northside Hospital would be named Hollis Cobb Circle.

In 1977, Hollis Cobb had the vision to create the first collection agency in Atlanta that exclusively served the healthcare community. Recognizing the need for maintaining a true sense of caring for the patient population while still collecting patient balances, Hollis developed a unique approach to healthcare collections, and Hollis Cobb Associates was born. Now, 45 years later, the company has expanded outside of Georgia, all over the United States, and offers services that span the entire revenue cycle from front end to back end.

Hollis Cobb manager, Leonard Bailey, was the first employee hired by Hollis L. Cobb and still works for the company today. Leonard remembers the company founder fondly recalling that Hollis took great pride in his work, believed in a personal approach when working with clients and set high standards for his staff. Integrity, ethics, professionalism and service were important attributes that he stressed to the staff working with both patients and clients, Leonard said.

Hollis Cobb Associates started with just two employees in 1977, and thanks to the founder’s family carrying his vision forward, the company has grown to include over 600 employees in various states across the country as well as offshore. Today, on the founder’s 100th birthday, the company he established continues to grow, expand and develop more customized services for our clients as we stay on the forefront of revenue cycle management.
