JEREMYBeginning his career as a software developer, Hollis Cobb Chief Information Officer, Jeremy Hooie, worked in a variety of industries before landing in the revenue cycle world a decade ago. Jeremy currently serves dual roles at Hollis Cobb, working as both CIO and as the Director of Client Services. His diverse work experience has enabled him to understand the challenges in the client services area from both the technological and client relations perspectives. “One of the main responsibilities of Client Services is onboarding new clients and working out file exchanges,” Jeremy explained, adding that, “I have the advantage of understanding both sides of that equation.”

Jeremy is an Auburn War Eagle with a Bachelor’s of Science in Management Information Systems. Born and reared in Birmingham, he moved to Atlanta last year to join the Hollis Cobb team. Greg Hocutt, Hollis Cobb CEO, also from Alabama, recruited Jeremy. Having worked with him in the past, Greg knew what a tremendous asset Jeremy would be to the company, particularly with the recent expansion of compliance requirements in both the healthcare and collection industries.

Over the last year at Hollis Cobb, Jeremy has achieved some crucial goals that have ensured the company’s ability to meet the many compliance challenges in healthcare collections. He has planned the implementation of new systems and provided guidance to staff to enable them to understand and use the systems to the maximum advantage. He oversees the company’s technological infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, while planning future strategies for the IT department. One of Jeremy’s most important responsibilities is monitoring the constant changes or advancements in technology and finding ways Hollis Cobb can use new technology to gain a competitive advantage.

“Information security is easily the most challenging part of my job,” Jeremy said, explaining that there is no silver-bullet solution for ensuring the security of information exchanged with clients and stored in the system. Security challenges are what keep him awake at night, Jeremy said, noting that the bad guys are smart, persistent and automated. “They only have to be lucky once,” he said, “so we have to be good every day.”

During the early years of his career, Jeremy worked as a software developer on Enterprise Asset Management systems for a variety of industries including Paper and Pulp, Petrochemical, Manufacturing and Municipalities. He transitioned to the collection industry in 2005 where he worked as a CIO and Executive Vice President, becoming well versed in all aspects of the Revenue Cycle in the process.

Jeremy holds his CISSP designation, Certified Information Systems Security Professional. While in Alabama, he served on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham chapter of ISSA (Information Systems Security Association). After moving from Birmingham to bring his expertise to the Hollis Cobb team, Jeremy settled in metro Atlanta with his wife and three children. He stays busy outside of work coaching and watching his children participate in youth sports.

Security issues in health information technology and collections are not going away, but Jeremy is prepared to meet the challenges. He said he finds it rewarding to solve problems for both clients and employees. “There is something inherently satisfying about turning a problem into an opportunity and capitalizing on that opportunity,” he noted. As Hollis Cobb grows and expands into new markets, both management and staff will continue to benefit from Jeremy’s skill in managing information technology.
