Over the years, numerous members of Hollis Cobb’s staff and management have obtained certifications relevant to their job duties in the healthcare revenue cycle. The latest is Vilma Zeledon, who has earned her CPAR (Certified Patient Account Representative). A Collection Manager in Training and Development, Vilma trains new hires and provides continuing education to all employees. She addresses compliance, HIPAA, FDCPA regulations and telephone techniques in her training sessions as well as provides training on Hollis Cobb’s Ontario FACS system. She writes updates to the Hollis Cobb training manual and internal training program ensuring all of the company’s in-person and online training materials are up-to-date with all regulations governing our industry.
In her six year tenure with Hollis Cobb, Vilma has managed a bad debt collection team at the company’s near shore office in Managua, Nicaragua. She later moved to Mobile, Alabama as part of a transition team to assimilate one of Hollis Cobb’s acquisitions. Her next move was to Atlanta to serve in her current position in Training and Development. Vilma is a certified Spanish/English interpreter, is also Epic certified and this year earned her Certified Training Specialist designation from ACA International (American Collectors Association).
The CPAR certification took over two months of intensive study, but was worth the effort as Vilma says she is dedicated to “learning more about the industry so that I can better assist our employees when questions arise during training.” She added that “We are constantly evolving, innovating and creating new ways to support our employees, and most importantly our clients and their patients.” Vilma said her next goal is to work toward earning the Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) and Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) designations. “Hopefully by this time next year I will have accomplished this,” she said.
