Hollis Cobb Associates is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of the upcoming Emory Healthcare Golf Tournament to benefit the American Heart Association. Slated for August 8 at the historic East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, the event is part of Emory’s ongoing efforts to raise money for the American Heart Association along with promoting awareness of heart disease prevention and treatment. Hollis Cobb has been a long-time partner with Emory each year in support of fundraising efforts.
According to the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cardiovascular disease is the leading global cause of death, accounting for over 17 million deaths each year. Approximately 800,000 people in the U.S. die every year from heart disease, stroke and related cardiovascular diseases, and over 85 million Americans are living with some form of heart-related illness. Costs of cardiovascular diseases and strokes exceed $300 billion every year in health expenditures and lost productivity, according to the National Institutes of Health.
American Heart Association statistics show that the death rate from heart disease has fallen 38%, due in part to fundraising partnerships like those between Emory and Hollis Cobb. Risk factors, however, are still high in America, and that is why Hollis Cobb is committed to continued support of Emory’s efforts to raise funds as well as awareness.
Hollis Cobb employees will also be participating with Emory staff in the Metro Atlanta Heart Walk, beginning in Centennial Park on September 24. Emory has raised approximately one third of its $3.5 million goal for this year.
