The 23rd Annual WellStar Foundation Golf Classic is set for August 29 at the Marietta Country Club. Over the past five years, the Golf Classic has raised over $800,000 for the WellStar Foundation, and the funds have targeted patients in the community dealing with cancer, stroke and end of life. Hollis Cobb Associates is proud to be a Bunker Sponsor of the WellStar Foundation Golf Classic to help provide continued funding for these vital programs and initiatives.

Hollis Cobb Chairman, Alan Cobb and CEO, Greg Hocutt, will play on a team with WellStar executives. “The staff and management of Hollis Cobb are part of the WellStar community, and it is important to us to support fundraising efforts, not only for our clients, but for the community in which we live and work,” Hocutt said. WellStar is Georgia’s largest not-for-profit healthcare provider, and strives to provide world class care to its patient population. Approximately 600,000 patients are served at WellStar facilities in Georgia each year. Philanthropic efforts like the Golf Classic help WellStar continue to provide excellent services.

The Foundation was formed in 1995 with the goal of raising funding for medical advancements for the WellStar Health System. Over the last two decades, the Foundation has raised $30 million. Initiatives like the Cyberknife Robotic Radiosurgery Program, and the Safe Kids Program, which provides education to the community, have been put in place as a result of the Foundation’s work. Funds raised by the Foundation recently paid for specialized beds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) which significantly increase the survival chances of premature babies.

The WellStar Foundation also sponsors other fundraising activities, including the 4th Annual Clay Shoot coming up on October 28 at the Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club. Last year the event raised $85,000 which went toward WellStar projects designed to improve community health.

The Marietta Country Club, the venue for the Golf Classic, is located at 1400 Marietta Country Club Dr., NW Kennesaw, GA. It is not too late to get a team together and sign up to play, or to donate to this worthy cause. Details are available at http://www.wellstar.org/golf
