Joining the Hollis Cobb team in October 2016, Reed Marvin has his plate full with planning, testing, implementing and maintaining software, network devices, servers, workstations and infrastructure. In the constantly changing world of healthcare finance, technology is key. Hollis Cobb staff keeps Reed busy with frequent upgrades and changes in software used to service our clients’ accounts. Cyber-security is a growing concern in healthcare revenue cycle management, and Reed assists the IT team in ensuring that Hollis Cobb has the proper level of cyber security in place at all times to protect our clients’ information and keep the company HIPAA compliant.

A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Reed spent nine years in the South Carolina State Guard which focuses on Disaster and Humanitarian Relief. Throughout his time with the Guard, Reed served as an Intelligence Analyst, Deputy Chief of Staff, IT Program Director and Commander. He was also honored with awards including the Lieutenant Governor’s Palmetto Patriot Award, the Meritorious Service Medal and the 3rd Brigade Soldier of the Year.

Always interested in cutting edge technology, Reed graduated from Trident Technical College in South Carolina where he was in the International Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity. Additionally, Reed holds CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications, and has served as a Basic Intelligence Analyst in the United States Army.

Prior to joining Hollis Cobb, Reed was in California working with large companies and startups in the Silicon Valley in everything from autonomous robotics to artificial intelligence; however Reed and his son missed their southern home and family. “My son and I moved to Atlanta because we missed our family and the beauty and people of the South.” Reed said he chose Hollis Cobb “because of the company’s dynamic growth strategies, and dedication to leveraging the latest technologies for the front and back office.”

The biggest challenge, Reed noted, has been learning the intricacies of the healthcare financial collections business. He went on to say that his favorite part of his job is the wonderful diversity of the tasks and technologies he is fortunate to work with every day. A problem solver by nature, Reed attacks an IT problem with gusto and does not slow down until the issue is resolved to the satisfaction of the user. He strives to make sure the staff at Hollis Cobb has everything they need technologically to perform their job duties to maximum effectiveness. This ultimately benefits our healthcare clients and keeps the company at the top of a competitive industry.

“The people I am blessed to work with at Hollis Cobb are caring professionals who not only see success of the business as a personal goal, but also take the time to support and care for each other,” Reed commented. He went on to say, “I am honored to have been accepted as a member of the Hollis Cobb family.” The staff is happy to have such a determined and dedicated Network Systems Engineer keeping our systems and security on track as we continue to grow and develop new products for our clients.
