As Hollis Cobb continues to grow in personnel and expand services provided to clients, the training department staff is growing as well to meet the demand for more employees with specialized skill sets. Training Specialist, Frank Cobb, trains newly hired employees with energy and enthusiasm as he prepares them to skillfully and professionally represent our clients in a variety of areas in the revenue cycle.
Frank joined the Hollis Cobb team this year and brings over 12 years of experience as a training specialist in healthcare revenue cycle management. He has also worked as a collector and sales representative prior to moving into the training field.
Originally from Chicago, Frank grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He went on to attend Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He also has his Achieve Global certification for Adult Learning/Training.
Frank moved to Atlanta in 2012 and said, “I love Atlanta! I love how diverse the city is and there is always something to do.” He explained that he “fell” into the collections industry after working for six years as a sales representative for a food manufacturer, and desiring to change careers. A friend suggested a position at a collection service in Jacksonville. Frank interviewed, was hired, enjoyed the work and has stayed in the industry.
His job duties include new-hire onboarding training, up-training for tenured associates and ongoing side-by-side coaching for all hourly associates. “This is a perfect fit for me,” Frank said of his position at Hollis Cobb. “I just feel like it was meant to be,” he said.
He explained that the most challenging aspect of his job is juggling a number of responsibilities at one time. Frank explained that on any given week, he may have a class consisting of part Early-Out Self-Pay representatives, part Bad Debt Collectors and part Patient Access representatives.
Frank went on to say of his job, “I truly enjoy the many layers there are to the medical collections/customer service industry. I’m constantly learning and am always busy.” He fit in to the Hollis Cobb culture right away. “The icing on the cake,” Frank said, “is that it feels like a huge family. I’m known to smile all the time, but I do it genuinely. I genuinely enjoy the people I work with.”
The middle child of three boys, Frank admits that he is a momma’s boy. He is a polished public speaker, which helps him be successful as a training specialist. Frank is involved in the theater community in Atlanta, and he considers acting his second career. In addition, he spends time weight lifting, working to feed the homeless and volunteering with other charitable organizations.
Frank has been a tremendous asset to the training team at Hollis Cobb since he joined the organization this year. The company leadership looks forward to new employees learning the ins and outs of Hollis Cobb and the clients we represent, and appreciates Frank’s dedication to preparing all new employees to succeed in their assigned areas of the revenue cycle.
